The 2015 La Rogerie Héroïne Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Extra Brut Millésimé is a vintage Champagne crafted by La Rogerie, the boutique estate established by Thibaud Pouillon and Flavie Berleand. Despite its relatively recent founding, La Rogerie has quickly earned recognition among Champagne enthusiasts for its small-production, terroir-driven wines sourced from some of the region's finest Chardonnay vineyards. Héroïne is produced exclusively from Grand Cru Chardonnay grown in the Côte des Blancs, the historic heartland of Blanc de Blancs Champagne. The chalk-rich soils of villages such as Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Avize are renowned for producing wines of exceptional precision, minerality and longevity. As a Millésimé bottling, the wine reflects the unique character of the 2015 growing season, while extended lees ageing contributes additional complexity and texture. The Extra Brut dosage allows the purity of the fruit and terroir to remain at the forefront. "The 2015 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Héroïne Avize Grand Cru was made in stainless steel. The nose reveals a gentle hint of waxy apple skin and melted candlewax, broadening out into Golden Delicious apple flesh with some wet polenta. The palate is rounded, speaks of the warm 2015 vintage with its mellowness, altogether this is looser, less focused than the dreamy 2014. The saltiness and the complexity are there, but not the essential tension. The finish is rich and smooth with soft umami and an apple pip bitterness, definitely for the table. Dosage is 2gr/L. - Vinous |
