A former cellar master at the legendary Domaine Prieuré-Roch, Durieux established Recrue des Sens in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and has since become a cult figure among natural wine enthusiasts and Burgundy collectors alike. His wines are produced from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards, with a strong emphasis on low-intervention winemaking and expressing the individuality of each site. Les Ponts Rouge is sourced from old-vine Pinot Noir grown on limestone-rich soils in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. The elevated vineyards benefit from cooler temperatures and significant diurnal variation, helping to preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. The challenging 2021 vintage produced lower yields throughout Burgundy but is widely admired for its purity, energy and classical balance. The wine opens with aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry, layered with notes of rose petal, orange peel, forest floor and subtle spice. On the palate, it is vibrant and finely textured, with bright acidity supporting a core of pure red fruit. Fine-grained tannins and a pronounced mineral backbone provide structure, while the finish is long, savoury and remarkably transparent to its terroir. Yann Durieux has become one of the leading names in Burgundy's natural wine movement, yet his wines are equally respected for their precision and sense of place. Les Ponts Rouge exemplifies his philosophy: minimal intervention in the cellar, meticulous work in the vineyard and a focus on producing wines that are energetic, expressive and unmistakably Burgundian. |
