The 2022 Perrin et Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Sinards is a Southern Rhône red wine produced by Famille Perrin, one of the Rhône Valley's most respected wine families and proprietors of the iconic Château de Beaucastel. Les Sinards is sourced primarily from younger vines within the Beaucastel estate and neighbouring vineyards, offering an approachable yet authentic expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape while retaining the signature style associated with the Perrin family. The vineyards are planted on the appellation's renowned soils of rolled galets stones, clay and limestone. These heat-retaining stones promote even ripening and contribute to the concentration and complexity for which Châteauneuf-du-Pape is famous. The warm and generous 2022 vintage produced ripe, expressive fruit while preserving freshness and balance, resulting in wines with both immediate appeal and ageing potential. The wine opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and raspberry, layered with notes of garrigue, licorice, black pepper and Provençal herbs. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with a generous core of ripe dark fruit supported by supple tannins and fresh acidity. Grenache provides richness and texture, while Syrah and Mourvèdre contribute structure, spice and complexity. The finish is long, savoury and marked by the distinctive herbal character of the Southern Rhône. Les Sinards has become one of the most recognised introductions to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, benefiting from the expertise and vineyard holdings of the Beaucastel team. While more approachable in its youth than many top cuvées from the appellation, it retains the depth, complexity and regional character that have made Châteauneuf-du-Pape one of France's most celebrated wine regions. "Blackberries, spicy garrigue, herbes de Provence, and some peppery nuances all emerge from the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Sinards, a medium-bodied, supple, elegant red with tons of character. - Jeb Dunnuck |
