Located on the northern side of Savigny-lès-Beaune, Les Narbantons is one of the appellation's most respected Premier Cru vineyards, positioned close to the border with Aloxe-Corton. The site is known for its limestone-rich soils and slightly warmer exposition, producing Pinot Noir wines with greater structure and depth than many other vineyards in the commune. The 2023 vintage from Domaine Philippe Girard reflects the character of both the vineyard and the growing season. Aromas are centred on red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry, accompanied by subtle notes of violet, forest floor and gentle spice. On the palate, the wine shows good concentration while maintaining freshness, with fine-grained tannins supporting a core of vibrant red fruit. Compared with village-level Savigny-lès-Beaune, Les Narbantons typically offers more intensity, firmer structure and greater ageing potential. The limestone influence contributes precision and lift, while the vineyard's proximity to Aloxe-Corton lends additional depth and savoury complexity. A versatile Burgundy, it pairs well with roast poultry, duck, pork, veal and mushroom-based dishes. While approachable in its youth, the wine is expected to develop additional nuance over the next 5–10 years. |
