Livio Felluga is one of Friuli-Venezia Giulia's most iconic wine estates and a pioneer of modern Italian white winemaking. Founded by Livio Felluga in the years following the Second World War, the estate played a pivotal role in restoring the abandoned hillside vineyards of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. Today, the family continues his legacy, producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that have become benchmarks for the region. The estate's distinctive map label pays tribute to the historic vineyards painstakingly restored by Livio Felluga and has become one of the most recognisable labels in Italian wine. Friulano, formerly known as Tocai Friulano until the EU name change in 2007, is the region's signature indigenous white grape. Produced from 100% Friulano, the grapes are harvested by hand from hillside vineyards in the Colli Orientali del Friuli. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by several months of ageing on the fine lees to enhance texture and complexity while preserving freshness. Medium-bodied and dry, the wine is noted for its aromatic intensity, vibrant acidity, saline minerality and the characteristic bitter almond note that defines high-quality Friulano.
