Two Rivers is a boutique Marlborough winery founded by award-winning winemaker Dave Clouston, whose philosophy is to craft wines that express the distinctive personalities of Marlborough's valleys through minimal intervention and careful site selection. The Saint Maur range represents the estate's premium, small-production Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from mature vineyards in the Southern Valleys. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for an extended period in concrete eggs and clay amphorae, the wine reflects a more textural, complex interpretation of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc while retaining the region's hallmark freshness. The 2021 release was produced from 21-year-old vines, bottled unfined and unfiltered, with only 2,000 individually numbered bottles made. A premium, dry Sauvignon Blanc that moves beyond the classic Marlborough style. The wine is naturally fermented and aged for 16 months on its lees in concrete egg tanks and clay amphorae, before a further 14 months of bottle ageing. Bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimal sulphur, it is medium-bodied with a creamy texture, pronounced minerality and exceptional complexity, balancing vibrant fruit with savoury, saline nuances. |
