Jérôme Prévost is one of Champagne's most respected grower-producers and the sole proprietor of La Closerie in Gueux, on the western edge of the Montagne de Reims. Mentored by the legendary Anselme Selosse, Prévost has built an international reputation for producing highly expressive, terroir-driven Champagnes using low-intervention winemaking. His wines are made in very limited quantities and are among the most sought-after grower Champagnes in the world. Les Béguines is the estate's flagship cuvée, sourced from a single 2.2-hectare vineyard planted predominantly with old Pinot Meunier vines on sandy soils over chalk. Each release is identified by its base vintage; LB23 is based entirely on the 2023 harvest and continues the tradition of single-vintage, single-vineyard expression. Vinification: Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in old Burgundy barrels before extended lees ageing in bottle. Style: Vinous, powerful and textured, combining orchard fruit, citrus and brioche with pronounced chalky minerality and exceptional precision. Despite its richness, the wine remains remarkably fresh and elegant. " Inviting aromas of pear, confit citrus, mirabelle plum and spices... medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, built around a chalky structure and concluding with a penetrating finish." -- Wine Advocate " Galloni consistently praises Les Béguines for its layered texture, mineral intensity and remarkable energy, highlighting its vinous character and long ageing potential across successive releases.
