Terrazas de Los Andes is a pioneer of high-altitude winemaking in Mendoza, recognised for revealing the diversity of Argentina’s mountain vineyards. The Grand Malbec is the estate’s flagship expression, crafted from exceptional parcels to showcase the elegance, freshness and depth that distinguish premium Mendoza Malbec. The 2021 vintage draws fruit from select vineyards in the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo, where elevations above 1,000 metres, cool nights and alluvial soils encourage slow ripening and excellent natural acidity. Careful oak maturation in French barrels enhances complexity while preserving the purity and character of the fruit. The wine opens with aromas of blackberry, black plum and violet, complemented by hints of graphite, cocoa, cedar and mountain herbs. The palate is concentrated yet refined, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a finely textured mouthfeel. Layers of dark fruit, spice and mineral nuance unfold towards a long, balanced finish marked by freshness and precision. Terrazas de Los Andes has played a significant role in establishing Mendoza as one of the world's foremost regions for Malbec. The Grand Malbec represents the estate's pursuit of site-driven quality, offering a more structured and age-worthy interpretation of the variety that continues to attract the attention of collectors, sommeliers and enthusiasts seeking benchmark Argentine Malbec. " A juicy and savory malbec with blackberry, crushed stone and orange peel aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, savory and delicious. " -- James Suckling |
