Champagne Cattier is a family-owned Champagne house founded in 1625 and based in Chigny-les-Roses in the Montagne de Reims. Now in its 13th generation, the Cattier family farms Premier Cru vineyards with a focus on sustainable viticulture. The house is also internationally recognised as the producer behind the luxury Armand de Brignac Champagne. Their own-label wines are known for combining long ageing with expressive fruit and refined elegance. Clos du Moulin is Cattier's flagship prestige cuvée, produced from a rare 2.2-hectare walled (clos) Premier Cru vineyard in Chigny-les-Roses. Originally planted in the 1950s, the vineyard is among the few historic clos in Champagne. The wine is made only in limited quantities and is aged for many years on its lees before release, giving it considerable complexity and longevity. The current non-vintage release blends reserve wines from multiple vintages to achieve consistency while expressing the character of the Clos. Clos du Moulin is a rich yet precise Champagne, combining the structure of Pinot Noir with the finesse of Chardonnay. It opens with aromas of citrus, acacia blossom, chalk and fresh ginger, followed by layers of fig preserve, rhubarb, vanilla and sweet spice. The palate is vibrant and creamy, offering flavours of lemon, grapefruit, raspberry, white peach and pineapple, supported by toasted hazelnut and caramelised pear on a long mineral finish. It is a gastronomic Champagne with both freshness and depth. " Mature and elegant, showing spice, toast and mineral tension. A blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Clos, with excellent ageing potential. " -- Wine Enthusiast " Praised for its balance, freshness and layered complexity with refined mousse and persistent finish. " -- James Suckling |
