The 2022 Henri Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques is a refined expression of one of Gevrey-Chambertin's most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards, situated immediately below the celebrated Clos St-Jacques.

Produced from a marl-rich hillside site, the wine combines fragrant aromas of red berries, rose petals, spice and subtle orange zest with pronounced mineral freshness. The palate is medium to full-bodied yet remarkably poised, offering silky tannins, vibrant acidity and impressive energy.

Charles Magnien employs around 50% new French oak, applied with a light touch so that the vineyard's mineral character and pure Pinot Noir fruit remain at the forefront. While approachable for its elegance, the wine possesses the structure and depth to reward extended cellaring, developing greater complexity over the coming decade or more. Critics have noted its ethereal character, precision and mineral-driven finish, placing it among the standout wines in the domaine's 2022 collection.

"An attractive crimson colour. The nose is fresh and lightly perfumed, quite floral, on this very white soil. This is fine boned rather than expansive, with still some grainy tannins behind.
