The 2022 Léoville Barton is noted for its intense, classic structure combined with the power of the 2022 vintage.
Nose: Intense aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, violets, blackcurrant, cedar, and tobacco.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with deep, layered, and velvety tannins. The palate is described as having "terrific energy and persistence" with a "fine-grained" tannin structure.
Characteristics: It has a "cold cast iron– and charcoal-accented structure", with a long, penetrating finish that is "powerful yet refined".
Composition: 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.5% Merlot, 5.5% Cabernet Franc.
Winemaking: This is the first vintage produced in the estate's new, state-of-the-art, gravity-fed winery, which has improved precision and purity.
Aging: Matured in roughly 60% new oak.
