Domaine de la Janasse is one of the benchmark estates of the Southern Rhône. Founded in 1973 by Aimé Sabon on family vineyards that had been cultivated for generations, the estate has grown into one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's most respected producers. Today, it is run by Christophe and Isabelle Sabon, whose meticulous vineyard management, low yields and traditional winemaking have earned the domaine an international reputation for quality.

The estate farms over 100 hectares across the Southern Rhône, including exceptional parcels in La Crau, Les Garrigues, Chapouin and Terre d'Argile. The Cuvée Tradition is sourced from numerous parcels throughout the appellation, with a significant proportion of old-vine Grenache planted in the famed La Crau plateau. Fermentation is carried out with partial whole clusters, followed by ageing primarily in large foudres with a small proportion in French oak barrels, preserving both fruit purity and regional character.

The 2022 Cuvée Tradition is a blend of approximately 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre and other authorised Rhône varieties. The warm, concentrated 2022 vintage produced a wine of impressive depth while retaining freshness and elegance.

Deep ruby in colour, it offers expressive aromas of ripe black cherry, raspberry, plum, Provençal herbs (garrigue), black pepper, violets and liquorice, with subtle hints of spice and graphite. The palate is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and concentrated red and black fruit. Although approachable in its youth, its balance and structure promise excellent ageing potential over the next 15–20 years.
