The Echezeaux Grand Cru from Jean Tardy has become one of the domaine's most celebrated wines, offering access to a 37.7-hectare Grand Cru in Flagey-Echezeaux at prices that compare favourably with better-known Vosne-Romanee premiers crus. Guillaume Tardy works a specific lieu-dit within Echezeaux known as Les Treux, and the vieilles vignes designation reflects the age of the vines in this parcel, which contribute additional concentration and complexity.

Echezeaux sits between the northern boundary of Clos Vougeot and the appellation of Vosne-Romanee, on a broad band of clay-limestone soils divided among more than eighty growers. The site produces wines that share some of Vosne-Romanee's aromatic generosity while retaining a more rustic, earthy backbone in the hands of traditional producers. In 2023, a warm and generous vintage across the Cote de Nuits, the wines show ripe, expressive fruit with softer tannins than the more structured 2022 releases.

Deep ruby with violet hues. Aromas of dark cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, sous-bois and a mineral thread of iron and chalk emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with well-defined tannins, lively acidity and a long finish carrying earthy spice and red fruit. Clearly a wine that rewards patience.
