Tasting Notes :

Founded in 1902 by Giulio Ferrari, Ferrari Trento is Italy's benchmark producer of traditional method sparkling wine. Inspired by Champagne, Giulio Ferrari recognised the potential of Trentino's cool Alpine climate for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Nero of exceptional quality. Since 1952, the Lunelli family has owned the estate, transforming Ferrari into Italy's most prestigious sparkling wine house while maintaining a strong focus on mountain viticulture, long lees ageing and meticulous bottle fermentation. Today Ferrari is widely regarded as one of the world's leading producers of méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines.

Perlé Nero Riserva is Ferrari's first and only Blanc de Noirs, produced exclusively from Pinot Nero grown in the Lunelli family's highest-altitude vineyards. It represents more than 40 years of research into Pinot Nero cultivation in Trentino. The 2009 vintage spent over six years ageing on its lees before disgorgement, developing remarkable complexity while retaining freshness. The 2009 growing season combined a cool, wet winter with a warm spring and excellent summer temperature variation, resulting in perfectly healthy, intensely aromatic fruit.

The 2009 Perlé Nero Riserva is rich yet remarkably refined. Aromas of exotic fruit, quince, spice bread, candied citrus and toasted brioche evolve into notes of biscuit, peanut butter, hazelnut and subtle anise. The palate is broad and creamy with exceptionally fine mousse, combining ripe orchard fruit with mineral freshness and a persistent, elegant finish. It is more powerful and structured than Ferrari's Chardonnay-based Perlé wines while retaining superb balance.

" Aromas of toasted bread, chamomile and dried herbs lead to flavours of mature yellow apple, citrus zest and lingering hazelnut. The creamy mousse supports an elegant, structured palate. " -- Wine Enthusiast

" Highlights the high-altitude Pinot Nero fruit, six years on lees and creamy texture layered with brioche and red apple flavours. " -- Wines & Spirits

" Praised for its depth, finesse and long ageing potential. " -- Robert Parker

" Recognised for its balance, richness and complexity. " -- James Suckling
