| Tasting Notes |
Moët & Chandon’s Grand Vintage Rosé is produced only in selected years that reveal a distinctive character worthy of individual expression. Each release reflects the house’s interpretation of a single harvest, combining precision with the richness and complexity that define its vintage Champagnes. The 2015 growing season was marked by a warm, dry summer, producing healthy, concentrated fruit with generous ripeness. Drawn from selected vineyards across Champagne, the blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier includes still red Pinot Noir to provide colour, structure and aromatic depth. Extended lees ageing contributes refinement and textural complexity. Expressive aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and blood orange are complemented by rose petals, pink grapefruit and subtle hints of toasted brioche and sweet spice. The palate is layered and vibrant, balancing ripe red berry fruit with fresh acidity, a creamy mousse and a fine mineral thread. Silky texture and gentle savoury notes lead to a long, poised finish. Grand Vintage Rosé occupies a distinctive position within the Moët & Chandon range, offering a more characterful and age-worthy expression than the house’s non-vintage rosé. Produced only in vintages that meet the house’s exacting standards, it is closely followed by collectors and Champagne enthusiasts seeking a vintage-specific interpretation from one of the region’s most established producers. " The nose of the copper-hued wine is vividly aromatic and recalls umeshu plum, with vivid red grapefruit and mulberry immediately apparent on the first sniff, while more air brings tisane of hibiscus and rosehip. The palate has a slight overtone of white truffle and smokiness, plunging into its wonderfully tart heart of red grapefruit and juicy plum, still with overtones of rosehip tisane. All this is backed by a gentle, buttery saltiness, tapering to fine freshness. " -- Anne Krebiehl , MW |
