Cantina del Taburno was founded in 1988 by the Consorzio Agrario di Benevento with the aim of showcasing the quality of Campania's indigenous grape varieties. Based in the foothills of Monte Taburno in the province of Benevento, the winery works with hundreds of local growers across the Taburno DOCG zone. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone and marl soils at elevations of 200–650 metres, an environment well suited to Aglianico, southern Italy's noble red grape. Through careful vineyard management and modern winemaking, Cantina del Taburno has become one of the leading producers of Aglianico del Taburno, balancing traditional regional character with an accessible, contemporary style.

Fidelis is produced from 100% Aglianico harvested by hand in late October. Following an extended maceration, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and maturation in a combination of traditional oak casks and French barriques. The result is a medium to full-bodied red that combines ripe fruit with the naturally firm structure of Aglianico.

The 2016 Fidelis is a classic expression of Aglianico del Taburno, combining ripe black fruit, tobacco and peppery spice with firm yet polished tannins. The clay-limestone soils of Taburno lend freshness and mineral tension, while oak ageing softens the grape's naturally robust structure. Although approachable after several years in bottle, it remains well suited to hearty dishes such as braised lamb, grilled beef, game and aged Pecorino.
