Champagne Louise Brison is a small, family-owned grower-producer based in Noé-les-Mallets in the Côte des Bar, the southernmost part of Champagne. Founded in 1991 by Francis Brulez and named in honour of his grandmother, Louise Brison has built a reputation for producing terroir-driven Champagnes from estate-grown fruit. Today, the domaine is managed by Delphine Brulez, continuing the family's commitment to sustainable viticulture, low-intervention winemaking and extended bottle ageing. Unlike many Champagne houses, Louise Brison produces only vintage Champagnes, believing each harvest should express its own personality. The Chardonnay de la Côte des Bar is sourced exclusively from estate vineyards planted on the Kimmeridgian limestone and clay soils characteristic of the region. The 2016 vintage was vinified and matured for nine months in oak barrels, bottled as Brut Nature (zero dosage) and aged extensively on its lees before release, emphasising purity, texture and the mineral character of the Côte des Bar. Made from 100% Chardonnay, the 2016 Chardonnay de la Côte des Bar is fermented and aged in seasoned oak barrels before extended lees maturation in bottle. The absence of dosage allows the wine's natural freshness and terroir expression to take centre stage. Bright golden-yellow with fine, persistent bubbles, the bouquet reveals aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, white flowers and crisp orchard fruit, complemented by hints of brioche, toasted almond and subtle vanilla from barrel ageing. The palate is precise and structured, combining citrus, white peach and chalky minerality with a creamy texture. Vibrant acidity and a pronounced saline finish give the wine impressive energy and length, making it an excellent gastronomic Champagne. " A beautifully detailed Blanc de Blancs offering remarkable tension and mineral precision. Layers of citrus, orchard fruit, chalk and subtle oak unfold over a refined mousse, leading to a long, saline finish. " -- Vinous, Antonio Galloni " A finely balanced Chardonnay with vibrant citrus fruit, delicate pastry notes and chalky minerality. Elegant and focused, with lively acidity and impressive persistence. " -- Wine Advocate |
