Cantina del Taburno was established in 1988 by the Consorzio Agrario di Benevento to promote the indigenous grape varieties of Campania and the unique terroir surrounding Monte Taburno. Located in the province of Benevento, the cooperative works with hundreds of local growers cultivating vineyards between 200 and 650 metres above sea level on clay-limestone and marl soils. Today, Cantina del Taburno is recognised as one of the benchmark producers of the Aglianico del Taburno DOCG, alongside Falanghina, Fiano and Greco, combining sustainable viticulture with modern cellar techniques while preserving the character of Campania's native varieties. The 2017 Cantina del Taburno 'Fidelis' is a red wine from Campania, Italy, blending 85% Aglianico with 10% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot. Aglianico is notoriously a bold, highly structured, and tannic grape. What makes this 2017 vintage blend approachable—even in its youth—is the addition of Sangiovese and Merlot. Together, they soften the racy edges of the Aglianico while maintaining a fruit-forward but elegant profile. Because of this, it pairs beautifully with rich dishes like pizza, beef, or venison. |
