Tasting Note :

Adrien Renoir is among the most discussed young producers in the Montagne de Reims, having taken control of his family's five-hectare estate in Verzy Grand Cru in 2019. Since beginning his own programme in 2015, Renoir has fermented entirely in 228-litre oak barrels, renewed at a rate of just five to eight percent annually, and practised organic viticulture certified since 2020. The Wine Advocate's William Kelley has described him as one of Champagne's brightest young talents.

Les Vignes Goisses is an exceptional lieu-dit: a parcel of massal-selection Pinot Meunier planted in 1962 on limestone soil in the Grand Cru of Verzy, where the grape accounts for just three percent of estate plantings. The resulting Champagne is 100% Pinot Meunier, an unusual and deliberate provocation in a Grand Cru village dominated by Pinot Noir. The 2019 base was disgorged in November 2023 at a dosage of 0.8 grams per litre. Verzy's north-facing slopes impose a cool, taut ripeness profile that defines the wine's mineral character.

Grand Cru Pinot Meunier from a single lieu-dit is a category with very few producers and even fewer wines at this quality level. The growing collector appetite for single-parcel Champagnes from young organic growers has driven demand for Renoir's releases well beyond the estate's production capacity. Tiny allocation volumes, consistent critical coverage and a demonstrable house identity have positioned Adrien Renoir firmly within the most sought-after tier of artisan Champagne production.

Best served with seared scallops, roasted guinea fowl or creamy mushroom risotto. The combination of Pinot Meunier generosity and Verzy mineral tension gives this wine real table versatility. A further three to four years in the cellar will reward those with patience.

Pale gold with a fine, sustained mousse. Aromas of red apple, orange zest, warm spice and aromatic bitters are underscored by a saline, chalky note from the limestone soils. The palate is medium to full-bodied, precise and vivid, with a charming fruit core, well-integrated acidity and a finish of good mineral tension and length.

Medium to full-bodied, with a charming core of fruit, chalky extract and a saline finish. Wine Advocate
