Tasting Note :

Illivio is Livio Felluga's Chardonnay-led white blend, produced from the estate's Colli Orientali holdings and representing a companion to the Terre Alte as one of the estate's signature white wine expressions. The blend typically incorporates Chardonnay as the primary variety alongside Pinot Bianco and a small proportion of Picolit, the latter adding aromatic complexity and a touch of richness that distinguishes Illivio from a purely varietal Chardonnay expression.

The Friuli Colli Orientali is the principal appellation for the Livio Felluga estate, a zone of ancient Eocene marly soils known as Ponca that impart a distinctive saline minerality to white wines grown there. The 2023 growing season in Friuli was warm, with good diurnal temperature variation preserving the aromatic definition and natural acidity that characterise the estate's whites. Illivio's partial ageing in barrique and stainless steel aims to balance textural richness with the freshness that the Colli Orientali terroir naturally provides.

Illivio occupies a complementary position to Terre Alte in the Livio Felluga range, offering a different stylistic register: where Terre Alte emphasises the blend of three varieties and the Rosazzo DOCG's specific mineral character, Illivio presents the estate's interpretation of Chardonnay in Friuli, a less internationally common proposition that demonstrates the variety's specific expression in this northeastern corner of Italy.

Drink from 2024 to 2031. Pair with grilled fish, light pasta dishes, risotto or mild cheese. Serve at 11 to 12 degrees Celsius.

Pale gold with green highlights. The nose shows Chardonnay's characteristic stone fruit and blossom alongside a fine Friulian mineral thread and a subtle oak spice note. The palate is medium-bodied, well-structured with good acidity and a clean, moderately persistent finish. Elegant and approachable from an estate known for white wine excellence.
