Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck is one of Champagne's most prestigious Grandes Marques. Nicknamed "Champagne Charlie", Charles was an innovative ambassador who introduced Champagne to the United States during the 19th century, helping establish the region's international reputation. Today, the house is renowned for producing richly textured, gastronomic Champagnes distinguished by an exceptionally high proportion of mature reserve wines and extended ageing in its UNESCO-listed chalk cellars (crayères). The house's philosophy places great emphasis on patience, with time considered its "fourth grape variety."

Brut Réserve is the flagship non-vintage Champagne of Charles Heidsieck and represents the signature style of the house. It is blended from approximately 60 different crus, with around 50% reserve wines averaging about 10 years of age, an unusually high proportion among major Champagne houses. The blend is typically:

• 40% Pinot Noir
• 40% Chardonnay
• 20% Pinot Meunier

The base wines are vinified primarily in stainless steel, with a small proportion fermented in old Burgundy oak barrels, before undergoing extended lees ageing far beyond the minimum legal requirement. This meticulous approach creates remarkable depth and consistency from release to release.
