The 2015 Tasca d'Almerita Regaleali Nozze d'Oro is one of Sicily's most iconic white wines, created to commemorate the golden wedding anniversary of Count Giuseppe Tasca and his wife Franca. First produced in 1984, Nozze d'Oro has become a benchmark for age-worthy Sicilian white wine, showcasing the unique character of the high-altitude Regaleali estate in central Sicily. Produced by the historic Tasca d'Almerita estate, the wine is a blend of Inzolia and Sauvignon Tasca, a local biotype of Sauvignon Blanc that has been cultivated at Regaleali for generations. The vineyards are situated at elevations of up to 900 metres above sea level, where warm Sicilian sunshine is moderated by cool nights, allowing the grapes to retain freshness while achieving full ripeness. The 2015 vintage displays aromas of ripe citrus, yellow peach and apricot, layered with notes of wildflowers, Mediterranean herbs, honey and subtle spice. With bottle age, additional nuances of beeswax, dried fruits and toasted nuts begin to emerge. On the palate, the wine is textured and complex, combining generous fruit concentration with vibrant acidity and a persistent mineral finish. The high-altitude vineyards of Regaleali contribute freshness and elegance, while extended bottle ageing reveals the remarkable ability of Nozze d'Oro to evolve over time.
