The 2019 Domaine Sébastien Dampt Chablis Premier Cru Beauroy is a Chardonnay from one of Chablis' most established Premier Cru vineyards. Produced by Domaine Sébastien Dampt, a family estate with deep roots in the region, the wine reflects the classic Chablis combination of purity, minerality and freshness that has made the appellation one of the world's benchmark sources of Chardonnay. Beauroy is located on the left bank of the Serein River and is known for producing wines that balance the tension and mineral character of Chablis with a slightly broader and more approachable texture. The vineyard is planted on the region's famous Kimmeridgian limestone soils, rich in marine fossils, which contribute to the distinctive chalky and saline qualities associated with the finest wines of Chablis. The warm and successful 2019 vintage delivered ripe, healthy fruit while retaining the acidity that is essential to the region's identity. The wine opens with aromas of lemon zest, green apple and white peach, complemented by notes of white flowers, oyster shell and wet stone. On the palate, it is precise and energetic, with bright acidity supporting a concentrated core of citrus and orchard fruit. A pronounced mineral character carries through to the long, refreshing finish. Premier Cru Beauroy is often appreciated for offering a combination of immediacy and ageing potential. Compared with some of Chablis' more austere sites, it tends to show greater generosity in its youth while maintaining the structure and minerality that reward further bottle development. |
