The 2021 Tenuta Perano Chianti Classico is a Sangiovese-based red wine from the heart of the Chianti Classico region in Tuscany. Produced by the historic Marchesi Frescobaldi family, whose winemaking heritage spans more than seven centuries, Tenuta Perano has become one of the estate's flagship properties for expressing the elegance and character of Chianti Classico. Located in the hills of Gaiole in Chianti, the vineyards sit at elevations of up to 500 metres above sea level, where significant day-night temperature variation helps preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. The combination of altitude, well-drained soils and careful vineyard management contributes to wines with structure, balance and a strong sense of place. The 2021 vintage is widely regarded as one of the strongest recent vintages in Tuscany, producing wines with excellent concentration, freshness and ageing potential. The wine opens with aromas of red cherry, wild berries and plum, accompanied by notes of violet, dried herbs, tobacco and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and vibrant, with bright acidity supporting a core of ripe red fruit. Fine-grained tannins provide structure and length, while savoury and mineral nuances emerge on the persistent finish. The 2021 Tenuta Perano Chianti Classico captures the hallmark characteristics of great Chianti Classico: freshness, elegance and food-friendly structure. The quality of the vintage adds additional depth and concentration while preserving the wine's balance and drinkability. This wine pairs particularly well with pasta dishes featuring tomato-based sauces, grilled meats, roast pork, Florentine steak, mushroom dishes and aged Pecorino cheese. Decanting before service will help reveal additional aromatic complexity. |
