Produced by the renowned Cantina Terlano, a cooperative founded in 1893 and widely recognised for its exceptional white wines, this bottling showcases the freshness, precision and ageing potential that distinguish Alto Adige from many other Pinot Grigio-producing regions. The vineyards are situated on the slopes surrounding the village of Terlano, where significant day-night temperature variations and mineral-rich volcanic soils contribute to aromatic intensity and structure. These conditions allow the grapes to achieve full ripeness while retaining vibrant acidity and clarity of fruit. The 2023 vintage opens with aromas of pear, green apple and white peach, complemented by notes of citrus zest, white flowers and subtle mineral nuances. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and finely textured, offering a balance of ripe orchard fruit, refreshing acidity and a characteristic mineral backbone. The finish is clean, persistent and marked by a gentle saline note that reflects the region's distinctive terroir. Unlike lighter, more neutral styles often associated with Pinot Grigio, the 2023 Terlano Pinot Grigio displays greater concentration, texture and complexity. The estate's meticulous vineyard management and winemaking expertise result in a wine that combines immediate drinkability with notable depth and refinement. This wine pairs particularly well with seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, light pasta dishes, risotto, roast chicken and fresh salads. Its freshness and versatility also make it an excellent aperitif. A rich Pinot Grigio with green mangoes, pears, apples, spring flowers and hints of vanilla and cream. Full body, round texture and tangy finish. - James Suckling "Sleek, refreshing and mineral-driven, with zesty hints of white pepper and pink grapefruit peel to the flavors of nectarine, green almond, talc and white blossoms. - Wine Spectator |
