Tasting Notes :

Tua Rita is one of Tuscany's most celebrated boutique estates, founded in 1984 by Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti in the coastal village of Suvereto, within the Maremma region. What began as a small family project has grown into an internationally acclaimed winery, renowned for producing some of Italy's finest Super Tuscan wines, including Redigaffi and Giusto di Notri. The estate benefits from mineral-rich clay and gravel soils and a warm Mediterranean climate, allowing grapes to achieve exceptional ripeness while maintaining freshness. Winemaking combines meticulous vineyard management with restrained use of French oak to produce wines that balance concentration with elegance.

Despite its name, the 2018 Perlato del Bosco Rosso is produced from 100% Sangiovese, offering a pure expression of Tuscany's flagship grape. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by approximately 12 months of ageing in French oak barriques and large oak casks, before further bottle maturation. The 2018 vintage is medium to full-bodied, combining ripe fruit, vibrant acidity and refined tannins in a style that is approachable in youth yet capable of developing with cellaring.

" The 2018 Perlato del Bosco was praised for its purity and varietal expression, offering aromas of wild cherry, forest berries, crushed flowers and subtle spice. The palate is vibrant and energetic, with bright Sangiovese acidity, finely integrated tannins and impressive balance. The wine finishes with savoury mineral notes and excellent persistence, highlighting the freshness and elegance of the vintage. " -- Wine Advocate, Monica Larner

" James Suckling described the wine as showing fresh cherries, raspberries and flowers with hints of spices. Medium-bodied and polished, it displays fine, silky tannins, lively acidity and a long, refined finish, recommending it for both early enjoyment and short- to medium-term ageing. " -- James Suckling
