Founded in 1893, Cantina Terlano (Kellerei Terlan) is one of Italy's most prestigious cooperative wineries and a benchmark producer in Alto Adige (South Tyrol). Located in the village of Terlano between Bolzano and Merano, the cooperative comprises more than 140 grower families cultivating vineyards on steep, mineral-rich porphyry volcanic soils.

The region's combination of high-altitude vineyards, warm alpine sunshine and cool mountain nights produces wines of exceptional freshness, precision and longevity. Terlano has gained international acclaim for both its age-worthy whites and elegant reds, employing meticulous vineyard management, gentle winemaking and extended lees ageing to enhance complexity while preserving varietal purity.

Torilan is a premium Alto Adige DOC red blend of Lagrein and Merlot. Fermented in stainless steel before maturation in French oak barriques, it combines the dark fruit, spice and structure of Lagrein with the supple texture and richness of Merlot. The result is a medium- to full-bodied red with polished tannins, vibrant alpine freshness and excellent ageing potential. It is well suited to roasted meats, game, braised beef and mature hard cheeses.

The 2019 vintage displays a deep ruby-red colour with purple highlights. The bouquet is expressive, revealing aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cassis and ripe plum, layered with violets, sweet spice, cedar, cocoa and graphite. On the palate, the wine is rich yet finely balanced, offering concentrated dark berry fruit supported by silky tannins, lively acidity and a pronounced mineral character that reflects Alto Adige's volcanic soils. Hints of liquorice, black pepper and dark chocolate emerge on the persistent finish, giving the wine both elegance and depth. While approachable in its youth, the 2019 has the structure to develop additional complexity with several years of bottle age.
