Tasting Note | : | Ruby-red. Expressive aromas of currant, lead pencil and leather, with a faint vegetal aspect (the estate did not use a table de trie back in '98). Very intensely flavored and solidly structured, but less obviously ripe than the 2000. Strong elements of dark chocolate and minerals. Comes across as a bit tough today, owing to its peppery cabernet tannins. Terrien says he prefers this wine to the 2000, and I suspect this very young Pomerol is better than it showing now. |
