Domaine Arnaud Tessier is a small, quality-focused estate in Meursault producing wines from some of the village’s finest Premier Cru sites with a minimal-intervention philosophy that prioritises natural fermentation, limited new oak and bottling that preserves the freshness and site character of the Chardonnay grown in this corner of the Côte de Beaune. Arnaud Tessier is known to Meursault specialists and to the trade buyers who seek out small, independent Burgundy producers working outside the well-known estates but achieving quality that justifies serious attention and cellaring investment. Les Poruzots is one of Meursault’s most prized Premier Cru sites, situated on the northern side of the village adjacent to the highly regarded Les Génevrières. The Poruzots Dessus sub-climat within Les Poruzots occupies the upper section of the vineyard, where the shallower soils and slightly higher elevation produce Chardonnay of greater mineral tension and aromatic refinement than the lower-slope Dessous. The 2016 Meursault vintage was produced after the catastrophic spring frost of 2016 that devastated yields across much of the Côte de Beaune; the wines that did result from 2016 are frequently described as highly concentrated and age-worthy, with a purity and intensity reflective of the dramatically reduced yields. The magnum format for a 2016 Meursault Premier Cru from an independent quality-focused estate represents an unusually compelling cellar proposition: the vintage’s concentration and structure, combined with the slower evolution of the larger format, suggests a wine that will develop exceptional complexity over the next decade and beyond. Meursault Poruzots Dessus in magnum is rare in the market and will appeal to the growing number of collectors who seek individual estates and specific Premier Cru lieux-dits rather than the village-level production of the major négociants. |
