Champagne André Heucq is a small, family-owned grower-producer based in Cuisles in the Vallée de la Marne. André Heucq took over the family estate in 1973 and has transformed it into one of the region's leading artisan growers. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2014 and are now managed according to biodynamic principles. The estate is recognised for low-intervention winemaking, parcel-specific bottlings and a strong emphasis on expressing individual vineyard sites. Hommage Parcellaire La Sablonnière is produced exclusively from a tiny parcel in Olizy, planted entirely to Pinot Noir. Only around 700 bottles were made from the 2018 vintage. Fermentation and ageing take place in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation, followed by 36 months on the lees before disgorgement. Released as Brut Nature, the wine showcases the purity of the vineyard without dosage. The 2018 is a powerful, gastronomic Champagne with remarkable structure. Aromas of honey, baked pear, orange peel, chestnut, warm spices and freshly baked waffle are complemented by hints of curry and toasted nuts. The palate is dense and energetic, combining vibrant acidity with a rich, muscular texture, fine persistent mousse and a long, saline mineral finish. It is best served in a white wine glass rather than a narrow flute to appreciate its complexity.
