Encouraged by the character of fruit picked earlier in the 2012 vintage, the Chadwick team began picking the grapes in mid-March, a month earlier than normal. And that, together with 25% less new wood, gives a surprising example of character, focussed purely on the fruit and its refreshing personality. Bright purple color. Cherry liqueur, dark berries, potpourri and cedary oak on the seductively perfumed nose, complicated by notes of tobacco, Indian spices and cola. Seamless, fleshy, alluring sweet red and dark berry and floral pastille flavors are firmed by a spine of juicy acidity and enlivened with air.
