Tasting Note :

Domaine Les Monts Fournois is a small grower-producer from Verzenay Grand Cru, one of the Montagne de Reims' most historically important Pinot Noir villages. The Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Millesime is a vintage Champagne produced entirely from Pinot Noir grapes vinified as a white wine (blanc de noirs technique), expressing the power and structure of Verzenay's terroir in a sparkling format without the aromatic richness that skin contact with the Pinot Noir variety would provide.

The 2014 Champagne vintage is considered a classic, understated year that produced wines of genuine depth and longevity rather than the opulent accessibility of warmer vintages. For a Verzenay Blanc de Noirs in 2014, the vintage's structured character combines with Verzenay's naturally firm, mineral Pinot Noir character to produce a wine of notable tension and precision. Now at over ten years of age, the 2014 should be entering an accessible, evolving phase where the tension of youth gives way to more complex development.

Vintage Blanc de Noirs from Grand Cru Verzenay represents a commitment from a small producer to documenting a specific terroir and a specific year rather than blending across vintages and sites for consistency. For collectors who appreciate parcel-specific and vintage-specific grower Champagne, the Monts Fournois 2014 provides a layered and age-worthy expression of the Montagne de Reims at Grand Cru level.

Drink from 2024 to 2030. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees in a tulip flute or broad Champagne glass. Excellent with grilled langoustines, white meat, smoked fish or aged cheese.

Pale golden with amber tints and a fine, evolved mousse. The nose shows the 2014's characteristic mineral depth: chalk, brioche, dried apricot, and a fine Pinot Noir-derived structure underneath. The palate is concentrated and well-defined with crisp acidity, good depth and a long, mineral finish. Mature and serious Blanc de Noirs from a classic Champagne vintage.
