The NV Heritage Blanc de Meunier from Andre Heucq is the non-vintage expression of the estate's Coteaux Champenois still white wine from Pinot Meunier. Where the vintage edition captures a specific year's character, the NV version blends multiple harvests to achieve a consistent house style: the warmth and aromatic spice of Meunier in a still, dry format, balanced by the chalk and limestone character of the Cuisles terroir and the natural freshness of the Vallee de la Marne's cooler sites. Coteaux Champenois Blanc is one of French wine's most unusual categories: still, fully fermented white wine produced within the Champagne delimited zone from the same grapes, in the same vineyards, using the same winemaking approach as the region's sparkling wines, but without secondary fermentation. Still white Champagne is produced in tiny quantities by a handful of artisan producers and has virtually no commercial equivalent outside the region, making it a curiosity for specialists and collectors alike. Andre Heucq's production of both a vintage and NV Blanc de Meunier provides buyers with a useful comparison point: the NV offers the house style without the specificity of a single year, suited to buyers who wish to experience the Cuisles Meunier-blanc character without the concentration or bottle evolution of the vintage edition. The NV's multi-vintage blending also provides more immediate approachability. Drink now through 2026. Serve at 12 degrees Celsius in a broad glass. Pair with light fish preparations, asparagus, mild soft cheese or vegetable-based first courses. Pale straw gold. The nose shows Meunier's characteristic spice, white fruit and warmth, softer and more immediately accessible than the vintage edition. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh acidity, a clean round texture and a pleasant finish with a light mineral note. An honest and unusual regional still white from a dedicated Meunier specialist. |
