Tasting Note :

Les Athets is a village-level lieu-dit in Chambolle-Musigny, one of the most perfumed and delicate appellations of the Cote de Nuits. Jean Tardy's holdings here produce a wine in a contrasting style to the estate's Nuits-Saint-Georges bottlings: lighter in body, more aromatic and more immediately approachable, drawing on the clay-limestone soils and distinctive microclimate that give Chambolle-Musigny its reputation for silkiness and floral elegance.

Chambolle-Musigny sits between Morey-Saint-Denis to the south and Vougeot to the north, its limestone-dominated subsoil and calcaire actif content contributing to a naturally pale, aromatic style of Pinot Noir unlike any other on the Cote de Nuits. Village-level wines from named lieux-dits such as Les Athets carry more terroir specificity than generic assemblages and can show genuine vineyard character. The 2023 vintage delivered Chambolle wines of ripe, expressive fruit and good early appeal.

Jean Tardy's Chambolle-Musigny completes the range with a wine at the more delicate, aromatic end of the estate's style spectrum. For buyers who find the estate's Nuits-Saint-Georges too structured for early drinking, the Chambolle offers an accessible alternative from the same careful winemaker with a very different textural and aromatic profile. The Les Athets lieu-dit is well positioned to deliver classic Chambolle character.

Drink from 2025 to 2030. Well suited to lighter preparations: salmon en papillote, roasted guinea fowl, Brie or delicate mushroom dishes. Serve at 15 degrees Celsius in a wide-bowled glass.

Pale ruby with a translucent edge. Aromas of red cherry, rose petal, dried violet and fine chalk lift clearly from the glass. The palate is light-to-medium bodied with silky tannins, elegant acidity and a fresh, floral finish. Distinctly Chambolle in character and very appealing for early drinking.
