The Frescobaldi family has been producing wine in Tuscany for more than 700 years, making it one of Italy's oldest and most influential wine dynasties. Giramonte is the flagship wine of Tenuta Castiglioni, the family's historic estate southwest of Florence. First released in 1999, it represents Frescobaldi's modern interpretation of Tuscany, combining Merlot's richness with the freshness and structure of Sangiovese. The 2009 vintage is a powerful yet polished Super Tuscan. Deep ruby in colour, it offers aromas of blueberry, black cherry and ripe plum, layered with anise, black pepper, truffle, cocoa, coffee, coconut and sweet mint. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with ripe, elegant tannins, generous concentration and a long, persistent finish. Despite its richness, the wine retains freshness and balance, making it suitable for extended ageing. " Described the wine as rich, concentrated and beautifully balanced, highlighting its ripe dark fruit, polished tannins and impressive length. " -- James Suckling
