The 2010 Rocheyron is the inaugural vintage of Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz's Saint-Emilion project, a milestone release from an estate that would go on to establish itself as one of the appellation's most talked-about emerging properties. As a magnum, this inaugural vintage is a particularly sought-after collector's item: the first wine ever produced at Rocheyron, preserved in a format that extends its development and amplifies its presentation value. Sisseck himself has expressed mixed feelings about the 2010 Rocheyron, noting that despite the extraordinary quality of the broader 2010 Bordeaux vintage, the estate was only beginning to understand the character of its limestone soils and the specific viticultural requirements of the eight-hectare property. The wine was not included in the estate's subsequent vertical tastings arranged through Corney & Barrow, suggesting it is considered a developmental release rather than a fully realised expression of the Rocheyron terroir. However, the 2010 Bordeaux vintage conditions were so exceptional that even this first attempt carries the quality of the vintage. The magnum format of a first vintage from an estate co-founded by one of Spain's most celebrated winemakers is inherently a collector's document rather than purely a drinking proposition. For buyers who appreciate the historical provenance of inaugural releases and who are drawn to Sisseck's unique credentials in high-end winemaking, this magnum offers a conversation piece alongside its intrinsic quality as 2010 Bordeaux from Saint-Emilion limestone terroir. Open anytime from now through 2030. Decant two hours before service. Pair with roasted beef or lamb, truffle preparations or mature hard cheese. The magnum format will have preserved the wine well. Deep garnet with mature evolution. The wine shows the generosity of the 2010 vintage with dark fruit, tobacco and limestone mineral character on the nose. The palate has the concentration of 2010 Bordeaux with firm tannins that have softened significantly at fifteen years of age. A historically significant bottle from this emerging property. |
