Domaine Sylvain Cathiard is one of Burgundy's most sought-after family estates, based in Vosne-Romanée. Founded by André Cathiard and later developed by Sylvain Cathiard, the domaine is now run by Sébastien Cathiard, who has refined the house style by combining silky textures with greater precision, purity and transparency of terroir. The estate farms approximately 8 hectares across some of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations, including Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny and Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru.

Les Croix Blanches was first produced in 2016 and comes from a single vineyard planted with co-planted Pinot Noir and Gamay, an old Burgundian tradition that predates modern appellation rules. Rather than vinifying the varieties separately, they are harvested and fermented together, creating a wine that combines the perfume and finesse of Pinot Noir with the freshness and vibrancy of Gamay. Only a tiny quantity is produced each year, making it one of the domaine's rarest entry-level wines.

The warm and generous 2018 vintage gives this wine a wonderfully expressive personality. Bright aromas of black cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry and violet are layered with peony, sweet spice and subtle forest floor notes. The palate is supple and juicy, with silky tannins, lively acidity and remarkable freshness. Gamay contributes energy and crunchy red fruit, while Pinot Noir adds structure and elegance. Despite its modest appellation, the wine displays the refinement and balance associated with Domaine Sylvain Cathiard.
