Jérôme Prévost is one of Champagne's most celebrated grower-producers and the proprietor of La Closerie, a tiny estate in Gueux, west of Reims. After working closely with the legendary Anselme Selosse, Prévost developed his own philosophy of low-intervention winemaking, focusing on expressing a single vineyard with minimal manipulation. Production is extremely limited, and his Champagnes are among the most sought-after grower bottlings in the region. Les Béguines is the estate's flagship wine, sourced from a small vineyard planted predominantly with old Pinot Meunier vines rooted in sandy soils over chalk. The LB23 release is based entirely on the 2023 harvest, continuing the house's tradition of producing a single-vineyard, single-harvest Extra Brut Champagne. Vinification: Fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in seasoned Burgundy oak barrels before extended ageing on the lees. Style: Rich, vinous and intensely mineral, combining orchard fruit, citrus zest, toasted brioche and chalk with remarkable energy, texture and precision. |
