Radikon is one of Italy's most influential natural wine estates and a pioneer of modern orange wine. Located in the village of Oslavia in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, near the Slovenian border, the estate was transformed by the late Stanko Radikon, whose revolutionary approach to extended skin maceration, organic viticulture and minimal intervention inspired a generation of winemakers worldwide.

Today, the winery is run by his son Saša Radikon, who continues the family's philosophy of producing wines without cultured yeasts, fining or filtration, and with either no or minimal sulphur additions. The vineyards are planted on the region's distinctive Ponca soils—a mixture of marl and sandstone—which impart remarkable mineral tension and longevity. Slatnik is one of the estate's signature wines, offering an approachable introduction to Radikon's skin-contact style while remaining unmistakably expressive of its terroir.

The 2020 Slatnik is a blend of approximately 80% Chardonnay and 20% Friulano. After spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the grapes undergo around 10–12 days of skin maceration, followed by ageing in large, neutral oak casks. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its texture and character.

Deep golden to amber in colour, Slatnik bridges the gap between white and orange wine. It offers aromas of ripe apricot, peach, orange peel, dried citrus, white flowers and herbs, complemented by subtle spice and smoky mineral notes. The palate is textured yet vibrant, with gentle tannins from skin contact, refreshing acidity and a long, savoury finish marked by saline minerality and citrus zest. Despite its complexity, it remains remarkably drinkable and food-friendly.
