Tasting Note :

Les Charmes Dessus is the upper section of Meursault's most celebrated premier cru vineyard, Les Charmes, divided administratively into Charmes-Dessus and Charmes-Dessous. The upper section, Charmes-Dessus, sits at a slightly higher elevation with typically lighter, stonier soils than the lower section below, producing wines of a more refined, mineral character rather than the outright opulence for which the lower Charmes is known. Domaine Arnaud Tessier's holding here represents the estate's senior white wine offering.

Meursault Les Charmes is among the most widely recognised of the appellation's nineteen premiers crus, producing wines of notable aromatic generosity and textural richness that exemplify the classic Meursault style. The 2022 vintage at Charmes Dessus delivered a wine of warm, generous character appropriate to the vintage, with the upper section's stony soils providing a degree of finesse that softens the inherent breadth of 2022's concentration. Tessier's vinification in barrique with careful new-oak management should balance texture and fruit purity.

Premier cru Meursault from a focused small producer in a warm vintage like 2022 represents one of the Cote de Beaune's most reliable propositions for buyers seeking serious Chardonnay with genuine appellation credentials. Les Charmes Dessus has been consistently reviewed by major critics across many producers, demonstrating the site's capacity for producing wine of significant quality and character over time, with best development occurring between five and twelve years from the harvest.

Best from 2026 to 2034. Pair with lobster bisque, grilled sole, seared scallops or aged Comte. Serve at 12 to 13 degrees Celsius in a broad white Burgundy glass.

Bright gold with green highlights. The nose is elegant and complex with pear, citrus oil, hazelnut, white blossom and a mineral-stone thread. The palate is medium-full bodied with good concentration, a creamy texture underpinned by vibrant acidity and a long, focused finish of mineral precision. More refined and less broad than the lower Charmes; needs time.
