Domaine de la Janasse is one of the Southern Rhône's most highly regarded estates. Established in 1973 by Aimé Sabon on family vineyards dating back several generations, the domaine has grown from a modest holding into one of the benchmark producers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Today, the estate is managed by Aimé's children, Christophe and Isabelle Sabon, who continue the family's commitment to sustainable viticulture, low yields and meticulous winemaking. The estate comprises more than 100 hectares across the Southern Rhône, including exceptional parcels in La Crau, Les Garrigues, Terre d'Argile and Chapouin. While the reds have earned worldwide acclaim, Janasse's white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is equally respected for its balance of richness, freshness and ageing potential. The vineyards are farmed organically, with hand harvesting and careful parcel selection ensuring each vintage faithfully reflects the appellation's diverse terroirs. The 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 40% Clairette and 20% Roussanne. Grenache Blanc and Clairette are fermented and aged in concrete tanks to preserve freshness, while the Roussanne is vinified and matured in French oak barrels (around 10% new oak). The wine spends approximately seven months on its lees before bottling. The 2024 vintage is elegant and finely balanced, offering aromas of white peach, pear, grapefruit, pomelo, white flowers and Mediterranean herbs, with subtle notes of beeswax and spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, combining a creamy texture with vibrant acidity and chalky minerality. Layers of citrus, orchard fruit and gentle oak lead to a long, polished finish. It is approachable in its youth yet has the structure to age gracefully for 10–15 years. " Exotic flowers, pear, white peach and minty herb aromatics. Medium-bodied, fresh, focused and pure, with a balanced, seamless mouthfeel, integrated acidity and a gorgeous finish. Drink 2025–2040. " -- Jeb Dunnuck " A full-bodied dry white with excellent balance between waxy richness and freshness. Aromas of pomelo, grapefruit peel and rosemary. Restrained tannins support a long, polished finish. Drink or hold." -- James Suckling " The wine is noted for its harmonious blend of Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Roussanne, combining generous fruit with freshness and poise, reflecting the elegance of the 2024 vintage.
