The only daughter of François Gros, Anne Gros forged her character and reputation in the
world of wine after taking over her father's estate in 1988. At the age of 25, Anne Gros saw
the family domaine expand from 3 to 6.5 hectares and invested in a new winery in 1999. As a
winemaker, she is wary of certainties and values preserving her freedom. As a woman, Anne
has proven herself and demonstrated to all those who doubted her ability to manage an
estate.
A loving extension of the brainchild and vision of the notable producer of the Anjou, Jo
Pithon, Domaine Belargus previously known as Pithon-Paillé, the languid vineyard that has
long been known to produce exultant pieces of white wines. Using biodynamics and organic
material to produce their wines, the winery believes that Chenin Blanc has potential for
diverse terroir expression equal to Pinot Noir in Burgundy.
