Tasting Note | : | The Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru 1999 is deep in color. It has a lovely savory bouquet with hints of Italian cured meats and bacon fat intermingling with briary scents, all with really impressive intensity. The palate is full-bodied and well balanced. There is clearly a bit of sinew here. Truffle and sappy black fruit form the second half with a saline note urging another sip toward the finish. This punches above my expectations, though I would be tempted to keep bottles down in the bunker for another three or four years. Like many 1999s, this is in for the long haul. |
