Tasting Notes

Veuve Clicquot is one of Champagne’s most established houses, celebrated for its Pinot Noir-driven style and long history of producing age-worthy vintage wines. Declared only in selected years, the Vintage Rosé reflects both the individuality of the harvest and the house’s commitment to structure, precision and consistency.

The 2015 growing season was warm and dry, delivering ripe, concentrated fruit with excellent maturity. The blend is based on Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay and Meunier, with the addition of carefully selected still red wine from Champagne to achieve its colour and subtle depth. Extended lees ageing enhances texture and complexity.

Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry are intertwined with blood orange, rose petal and freshly baked brioche. The palate is vibrant yet creamy, with fine mousse, lively acidity and a chalky mineral backbone. Juicy red berry fruit, citrus peel and delicate spice unfold across a refined, balanced finish with impressive persistence.

Vintage Rosé occupies an important position within Veuve Clicquot’s range, offering greater depth and individuality than the non-vintage rosé while remaining approachable in youth. Its proven ability to develop additional complexity with bottle age, combined with the enduring reputation of the house, ensures continued interest from collectors, restaurants and Champagne enthusiasts.

" The 2015 Champagne Vintage Rosé is medium pink with jeweled ruby/orange highlights and was aged for at least six years before disgorgement. It’s fruity but carries more spice and intensity, with a pithy structure and a full-bodied palate of rich strawberry preserve and rhubarb jelly. Ten percent of the blend was vinified and aged in oak, adding extra richness and fleshiness to the texture. Well-balanced and ripe without being cloying, it has savory saffron spice, 8 grams per liter dosage, and 13% red wine in the blend. It has the ability to age for another 15 years and can stand up beautifully to hard cheeses like Parmesan, charcuterie, or duck. Aromatically, it’s a bit shy today, but the palate has a lovely fruitiness balanced with spice. " -- Jeb Dunnuck
