Paddock of Emily seems to take on more new oak, with the same winemaking process as Georgia’s, though there is 3% cabernet franc in the mix, co-fermented. The difference is pretty much one kilometre, with slight variation in Cambrian soil type. “Emily’s tends to have a mint or eucalyptus character, or spice, or something, but a light distinction”. Dark fruits, slippery, unctuous texture, more sinew to tannins through the finish. Perfume of dark berries, blackberry, faint fennel, choc mint, the whiff of wood spice and a general sense of moody, dark fruit. The palate is strong, lush, drives intensity and vigour, bound up and ready for cellar time. Superb wine. Drink 2018-2030+ |
