La Spinetta is one of Piedmont's most celebrated wineries, founded in 1977 by the Rivetti family and led by Giorgio Rivetti. Originally renowned for Moscato d'Asti, the estate has become one of Italy's benchmark producers of Barbaresco and Barolo through meticulous vineyard management, low yields and a philosophy that combines traditional Nebbiolo with modern precision in the cellar.

The Garretti vineyard is located in the commune of Grinzane Cavour, on a south-facing hillside of calcareous clay soils. The vines average 35–40 years of age and are farmed organically. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in used French oak before ageing for 20 months in 600-litre French oak casks (50% new, 50% second-fill), followed by more than 18 months of bottle ageing before release. Garretti is known for producing Barolo with both aromatic charm and refined structure, making it one of La Spinetta's most approachable single-vineyard expressions in its youth.

Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the 2019 Garretti reflects the outstanding 2019 Barolo vintage, combining concentration with remarkable elegance and freshness.

The bouquet is intensely perfumed, revealing aromas of rose petals, wild cherry, pomegranate, cassis, blood orange and dried herbs, layered with liquorice, sweet spice, baked clay and earthy mineral notes. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with finely sculpted tannins, vibrant acidity and exceptional precision. Bright red fruit is complemented by savoury spice, floral complexity and a persistent mineral finish. While already expressive, the wine possesses the balance and structure to evolve gracefully over the next two decades.
