Founded by Livio Felluga in the years following the Second World War, Livio Felluga is widely regarded as one of the pioneers responsible for establishing Friuli-Venezia Giulia as one of Italy's premier regions for fine white wines. Often referred to as the "Patriarch of Friulian Wine," Livio Felluga transformed neglected hillside vineyards into some of Italy's most respected estates. Today the winery remains family-owned and is recognised for producing elegant, age-worthy whites that combine aromatic intensity with remarkable longevity.

First produced in 1981, Terre Alte is the estate's flagship white wine and one of Italy's iconic blends. The grapes are sourced from estate-owned vineyards in the historic hills of Rosazzo, where marl and sandstone ("ponca") soils provide excellent drainage and distinctive mineral character. Each variety is vinified separately before blending, and the wine is matured for approximately nine months, partly in large oak casks, followed by extended bottle ageing before release. Terre Alte is renowned for developing exceptional complexity over decades.

The 2020 vintage is concentrated yet vibrant, combining the richness of Friulano with the freshness of Pinot Bianco and the aromatic lift of Sauvignon Blanc. The bouquet offers aromas of passion fruit, white peach, ripe pear, citrus zest, ginger, wildflowers and flinty minerality. The palate is full-bodied and layered, showing flavours of nectarine, green mango, lemon curd, toasted sesame, pine nuts and herbs. Despite its generous texture, bright acidity and a long mineral finish provide superb balance and precision.
