The Sydonios L'Esthète Decanter was developed as part of the Bordeaux-based Sydonios project, a company founded by Antoine Schvartz and Baptiste Larbre with the aim of creating wine glasses and decanters guided by scientific research rather than tradition. Rather than designing vessels based on grape variety or region, Sydonios collaborated with Professor Axel Marchal and the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (ISVV) at the University of Bordeaux to study how glass shape influences the sensory perception of wine. More than 100 wine professionals, including winemakers, sommeliers and oenologists, evaluated seven prototype designs during extensive blind tastings. The research ultimately identified two optimal glass shapes, which became the foundation of the Sydonios collection.

Introduced alongside the L'Esthète stemware in 2018, the L'Esthète Decanter was created specifically to complement structured, powerful and tannic wines. Its design mirrors the proportions of the L'Esthète glass, providing an ideal oxygen exchange surface that gently aerates the wine while preserving aromatic precision. The decanter is intended for wines such as Bordeaux blends, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Nebbiolo, Aglianico and other full-bodied reds, allowing tannins to soften while maintaining freshness and balance.

Like every Sydonios piece, the L'Esthète Decanter is mouth-blown from lead-free crystal by master glassmakers in Bohemia, combining centuries-old craftsmanship with modern oenological research. The decanter reflects the company's philosophy that the serving vessel should never dominate the tasting experience, but instead discreetly enhance the wine's expression through precise proportions, exceptional lightness and elegant design. Since its launch, Sydonios has become a preferred choice among many of Bordeaux's leading classified growths, prestigious Champagne houses and top sommeliers worldwide, establishing the L'Esthète Decanter as one of the brand's signature creations.
