Founded in 2015 by Chris and Kathryn Hermann, 00 Wines was established with the ambition of producing Oregon Chardonnay and Pinot Noir inspired by the precision, texture and terroir expression of the finest wines of Burgundy. Based in Oregon's Willamette Valley, the winery works with exceptional vineyard sites and follows a philosophy of minimal intervention, extended élevage and meticulous attention to detail. Since its inaugural vintage, 00 Wines has gained a reputation as one of Oregon's most acclaimed boutique producers, expanding its portfolio to include projects in Burgundy and Champagne while remaining committed to expressing individual vineyard character. The Shea Pinot Noir is sourced from the renowned Shea Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, one of Oregon's benchmark Pinot Noir sites. Fruit for the 2022 vintage comes from vines planted near the treeline at approximately 550 feet elevation. The grapes are hand-destemmed and fermented in amphora before ageing in French oak, a method that emphasises purity, texture and the distinctive personality of the vineyard. Only around 135 cases were produced, making it one of the estate's rarest single-vineyard bottlings. The review notes concentrated dark cherry and raspberry fruit framed by savoury herbs, floral perfume and earthy spice, supported by refined tannins and vibrant acidity that promise excellent ageing potential.
