Founded in 1950, Antichi Poderi Jerzu is one of Sardinia's most historic wine cooperatives, located in the mountainous Ogliastra region on the island's east coast. Established by physician Josto Miglior together with 45 local growers, the cooperative now represents hundreds of vineyard owners cultivating predominantly Cannonau on steep hillside vineyards between the Gennargentu mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The combination of schistous and limestone soils, abundant sunshine and cooling sea breezes produces wines with concentration, freshness and a distinctive Sardinian character. Ákratos is the winery's flagship Passito wine, crafted from late-harvest Cannonau grapes that are partially dried to concentrate their sugars and flavours before fermentation.
